Alexander Campbell-Hunt
Alex Campbell-Hunt (b.1988) is originally from Wellington but has lived in Dunedin since 2003. He took up piano lessons at age 13 and started composing at 15, while taking NCEA Level 1 Music at Logan Park High School.
He is currently studying composition at Otago University, working towards a MusB(Hons) as well a BSc in mathematics. His music has been performed by the Southern Sinfonia and Jade String Quartet among others, and workshopped by the NZSO. His influences include minimalism and the music of Steve Reich and John Adams, as well as Bela Bartok and Charles Ives.
Alex was awarded a Lilburn Trust Composition Award in 2009 (first place), 2010 (merit) and 2011 (first place) from Otago University.
