Darija Andzakovic

Darija Andzakovic Darija Andzakovic completed her MMus in double bass performance at the University of Auckland in 2009. She is currently continuing with postgraduate research in 18th century performance practice of the Viennese double bass.

Darija was a member of the National Youth Orchestra from 2005-2007, sub-principal bass in the Montepulciano Youth Orchestra in 2008 and received an invitation to participate in Southbank Sinfonia. In 2009, she was the recipient of a NICAI Summer Research Scholarship, the Anne Bellam Scholarship and a semi-finalist at the Gisborne International Music Competition.

Although her current main area of interest is music of the classical period, Darija has been a keen supporter of new music since her first performance of “My Passive Nature with the Razor” by Neil Newton at the 2006 Lilburn Competition.

Darija was awarded a Lilburn Trust Performance Award in 2010 from the University of Auckland.
