Diantha Hillenbrand
Diantha is originally from Grove City, Ohio and she came to New Zealand to fulfill a life-long dream to live here. Her training in singing began from heavy involvement in local choirs and musicals but her official classical training started in 2005 at Capital University until 2009 when she moved to Hamilton to attend the University of Waikato under the tutelage of David Griffiths.
Diantha has loved working with Waikato composers namely the electro-acoustic music of Elizabeth de Vegt and most recently with the song cycle Carnivel of New Zealand Creatures by Magarietha du Preez. She also sings in an improvisational, museum-touring group called Let the Art Sing led by Soundz composer Susan Frykberg. The productions at Waikato the past three years afforded her principal roles in The OId Maid and the Thief, The Impresario, A Little Opera and Walls of Troy.
Diantha was awarded a Lilburn Trust Performance Award in 2011 for Carnivel of New Zealand Creatures (Margarietha du Preeze) from the University of Waikato.
