Ihlara McIndoe
Ihlara McIndoe is a first year music student studying performance piano and composition, alongside a law degree at The University of Otago.
She began learning the piano at four years old, and the viola in high school, and began to explore composing in her final years of school. She accompanies for high school level choirs and local community productions, along with directing an intermediate school choral group. She accompanied for the Dunedin Melrose Women's choir from 2013-14, and played as the resident pianist in a local restaurant.
Ihlara has performed as the Dunedin Secondary Schools Music Festival Trust Power Scholarship Winner soloist, and is a member of the Dunedin Youth Orchestra. She has had success in NCEA Scholarship Music, and well as placing first in the Registered Music Teachers Association Otago Composition Competition, and placing second in the Registered Music Teachers Association Otago Instrumental Performance Competition, in 2015. Ihlara looks forward to completing her studies in Music and Law at Otago.
