Justin Clarke
Justin "Firefly" Clarke is a composer and virtuoso guitarist from Wellington. He completed a degree in jazz guitar in 1998 and then departed for Europe where he pursued a successful career in music.
Based in Berlin from 1999-2006 he performed music all over Europe, Japan and Australasia at major festivals and venues collaborating with leading international jazz, classical and indigenous musicians from many cultures.
Returning to New Zealand in 2006 he continues to perform and produce music and is currently studying composition at Victoria University in Wellington.
Justin has been awarded a number of Lilburn Trust Composition Awards from the New Zealand School of Music: 2009 (third equal) and 2011 (second) for A Glimpse of Matariki.
In December 2011 he is collaborating with a group of musicians from Japan to perform an extended version of A Glimpse of Matariki in Christchurch, Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth.
