Kathleen Tay
Kathleen Tay was born in Wellington, New Zealand, but lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for seventeen years. Being in both countries, she has enhanced her knowledge and understanding of both cultures.
Kathleen started learning piano and ballet at the age of six. At the age of 10, she started learning the violin. Kathleen is very passionate about music and loves composing. Currently, she is studying towards her Bachelor of Music, majoring in Composition under Martin Lodge and doing a secondary performance study for Piano at the University of Waikato Conservatorium of Music.
In 2016, she won the Bennett Challenge Trophy for the Te Awamutu Piano Competition. She was also selected as the finalist for the Lilburn Trust Composition Awards.
She was awarded 1st place for the Lilburn Trust Composition Awards in 2017 for The Beach House for piano trio.
