Jacoba Margarietha du Preez
Margarietha du Preez is currently in her Honours year studying composition at the University of Waikato. She completed a Bachelor of Performance prior to this majoring in piano under the tutelage of Katherine Austin. She also plays the violin and has been a member of the University Orchestra for the past four years.
Margarietha has participated in the annual Lilburn Trust Awards since 2008, receiving a Merit Award in 2009 for her work, Nocturne, for flute, violin, cello and piano, as well as joint first prize in 2011 for her song cycle, Carnival of New Zealand Creatures, for soprano voice and piano sung by Diantha Hillenbrand who was awarded the performance prize.
