Reuben Derrick
Over the past few years Reuben has been involved with creative music in New Zealand and Australia, playing in major festivals and performing in various concerts and recordings. In 2009 Reuben spent a month in Sri Lanka with other New Zealand improvisers to collaborate with traditional ritual artists.
In 2010 he will travel to Berlin for performances and then on to the UK to attend a wildlife recording course with Chris Watson, sound artist and field recordist for David Attenborough.
In 2011 Reuben will be recording a CD with Richard Nunns at Castle Hill, Canterbury. Reuben is currently undertaking a Masters in composition, exploring environmental recording and improvisation.
Reuben was awarded a Lilburn Trust Composition Award (second place) in 2010 from Canterbury University.
