Xuanchang (Sheena) Shi

Xuanchang (Sheena) Shi Xuanchang (Sheena) Shi was born in Dalian, China and immigrated to New Zealand in 2012. Sheena started learning piano at the age of 11. Sheena is very passionate about music and loves composing. Currently, she is studying towards her Bachelor of Music, majoring in Piano Performance under the tutelage of Katherine Austin at the University of Waikato Conservatorium of Music.

In 2016 Sheena won first prize in the piano duet class and achieved third place in the Mozart's Piano Recital class in the Te Awamutu Music Society Piano competition. Sheena was also awarded second place in the University of Waikato Chamber Competition in June 2017. She is one of the recipients of the Wallace Group University of Waikato Blues Award in Creative and Performing Arts in 2017.

Sheena was awarded joint 1st place for the Lilburn Trust Composition Awards in 2017 for Dilemma for piano trio.
